Nokia Music arrives for Windows RT/8, brings Metro mix radio goodness

Nokia Music is Nokia’s own music service which has been there for a long time, previously under the Ovi Music moniker. The music service was re-launched at the same time as the first Lumias launched, bringing Mix radio, a Pandora-like discovery engine that let you create your own mix radios, by adding a maximum of three artists per mix.

The mix radio and the general a la carte music store with millions of tracks made sure the service was well received. Now, after going for a exclusively mobile strategy with Windows phone, they have now ported some of the functionality to the Windows 8, in the form of a new metro style touch application for tablets and other devices.
The service on Windows 8 is peculiar, because it does not have the functionality to browse the music store from the app but can play all your mix radios, including offline ones that you had saved earlier on your phone. You can also create new mix radios, unlimited in case you are with the Nokia Music Plus plan.
The app is completely Metro as in touch style on Windows 8, and has a nice album art background just like the Zune app on Windows Phone and the Xbox music app on Windows. Since this is a metro style app, it can run on Windows RT too.
You can download the Nokia Music app here, it’s available in these markets only for now – United Kingdom, Unites States of America, Ireland and Australia, and other markets that already have Nokia Music+ will get it eventually.
