iOS 6 Maps disappointment on route for older device owners

The dust has settled now following yesterday’s keynote speech at the Apple WWDC event, and away from all the news about the new range of Macs iOS 6 grabbed most of the headlines, and it was the new Maps feature that gained a lot of plaudits but some disappointment may be on route for owners of older devices.
The company announced a number of new iOS 6 features yesterday but according toAppleInsider when the new operating system is released in the fall, iPhone 4 owners won’t be able to use the turn-by-turn directions or Flyover in the new Maps application.

For the iOS faithful out there that are eager to learn all they can about Apple’s upcoming iOS 6 release, and for the Android faithful that might like to see if iOS 6 offers anything they don’t already have, how about a couple of videos showing off those iOS 6 features?

Both of the videos come our way courtesy of the guys over at Phones Arena and by way of YouTube user iAppleTech2 who’s footage lasts just over five minutes of showing off iOS 6, and YouTube user TechTechMan TV, who’s footage last almost seven minutes and delivers a hands on with iOS 6.

Samsung Galaxy S3 OTA update pushed out

The word is old Samsung has begun pushing out an over the air update to the Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone shortly after launch, and for those that own the Samsung Galaxy S3 all you need to do is hit the software update button in settings and the handset will download and install the update in a few minutes.

According to the guys over at Phone Arena though, the Samsung Galaxy S3 update has a very short changelog which only indicated s improved stability, and the update size depends on your configuration, theirs was roughly 9MB; however there are some reports of the update being 31MB plus.

iOS 6 Jailbreak Done – MuscleNerd

As tweeted by the famous jailbreaker MuscleNerd theiOS 6 jailbreak has been done within a day after the recent release of iOS 6 beta the next generation idevice operating system. Although he claims it is done but he also mentiones that nobody should expect it will be released at this moment since the it is at initial stage and also it is not good idea to jailbreak iOS 6 beta when it is under up gradation/testing.

In the same tweet MuscleNerd also provides the link to the text file that contains technical  information on iOS 6 jailbreak (IODeviceTree) which may not be useful for a common reader but definitely provide valuable information on the device and iOS version of the claim.

As usual the iOS 6 beta version has been provided for developers only at the moment which can be accessed through Apple’s Dev Center if you are a developer.
