Nokia India teases 808 PureView launch with countdown

Nokia India seems to be ramping up the activities leading up to the launch of its much awaited camera phone , the 808 PureView . In addition to the pre-order page , the company has also today introduced a countdown. We suspect that the countdown might lead to the announcement of availability of the phone but as of now that is just speculation.
The Nokia 808 PureView has perhaps the most  amazing camera we’ve seen on a phone and we definitely can’t wait to get our hands on the phone. The proprietary oversampling technology leads to some incredible results.

HTC One X hammer video

A while back we posted some video footage of the Nokia Lumia 900 being nailed on camera, where some guy decided to find out how tough the display is by hammering nails onto the screen, and then using the Nokia Lumia 900 as a hammer, and now it seem this practice has taken off, as we have another video for your viewing pleasure below, this time of the HTC One X being used as a hammer.

The Using HTC One X Display Screen as a Hammer video comes our way courtesy of the guys over at Ubergizmo and by way of Droid Dog and YouTube user ched2468, which shows some guy using the HTC One X as a hammer to whack a nail into a piece of wood for some reason.

The guy in the video, apparently an HTC engineer takes some time to drive that nail into the wood with the display of theAndroid Ice Cream Sandwich handset, something that personally if I owned the device wouldn’t attempt even though the HTC One X has Gorilla Glass.
According to the Ubergizmo guys, the video footage was taken down shortly after being posted, but not before someone else grabbed it, and word is HTC were not that happy about this particular HTC One X display stress test video, which word has it could lead to the sacking of the engineer.
Anyway, I’ll leave it right there and simply let you head on down to hit that play button to check out the guys beating a nail with the One X…would you use your HTC One X as a hammer?

Future Nokia Lumia and PureView handsets will be waterproof

Future Nokia Lumia and PureView handsets will be waterproof

At the Lumia 610 launch event in London last week, Conor Pierce, Vice President of Nokia Western Europe unveiled that the company is working on a “Superhydrophopic” technology that will be implemented into all future Lumia and PureView devices.
“What happens when a drop of water lands on a lotus leaf… has baffled scientists for generations… but our team in Cambridge found a solution,” said Pierce.
“Nano technology lets us do it. Superhydrophobic technology makes water bounce, it stops it, rolls it off the device, that’s the magic, that’s what we’re going to bring to the party.”
No firm date was given when this technology will be implemented in Nokia’s handsets. There are already some waterproof smartphones on the market like Motorola Defy and PanasonicEluga and I hope that Nokia will join the party soon.

Who doesn’t want a waterproof handset?

HTC One S launching in India on 8th June @ Rs 33,000 or $600

The HTC One S which is the younger sibling of the HTC One X will be launching in India early next month. Grin
The Qualcomm powered Android phone has got priced at Rs.33000 on TheMobileStore.

I personally prefer the One S over the One X and I would call the One S the iPhone of the Android world. The handset has got a release date of 8th June on the retailer’s website.

Rs.33000 seems a bit steep for the One S. Ideally I would like to see it priced at around Rs.30000 considering the international pricing but then the high dollar is to blame. Embarrassed
