NVIDIA Project Shield Tegra 4-powered Handheld gaming console with 5-inch HD display announced

NVIDIA Project Shield
NVIDIA has announced Project Shield, the company’s first handheld gaming console at CES 2013. This has a 5-inch 720p multi-touch display with NVIDIA DirectTouch. It is powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra 4 processor and runs on pure Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) without any skin. It has a dedicated Shield button that takes you to NVIDIA Tegra Zone to purchase and play games. You can also get games from the Steam store that has more than 2,000 titles.



It has 33Wh battery that provides 5 to 10 hours of gaming or 24 hours of HD video playback. It has perfect sound system with custom bass reflex that offers complete audio experience.


It has Gaming controllers similar to the controllers present in the consoles.
NVIDIA Project Shield Connectivity
It has HDMI, micro-USB, microSD card slot and 3.5mm Judio Jack. You can connect it to 4K TVs using HDMI and has Wi-Fi 802.11n 2×2 MIMO.
NVIDIA Project Shield Streaming
You can also stream games from your PCs with GeForce Cards to Shield over Wi-Fi. It would also bring option to stream content from the project shield to a TV in future. NVIDIA did not reveal the price of the Project Shield, but the gaming console is expected to go one sale in the U.S. and Canada from Q2 2013.
