Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Release Date Is August 15th

The mystery regarding the Unpacking event hosted bySamsung on August 15th have been solved: Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is the gadget that will be announced by the South Korea-based phone maker in about three weeks.

The rumors were pointing that both the new SamsungGalaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet will be introduced at the aforementioned event. Sources close to the South Korean company have confirmed that the Unpacking event will be centered on the launch of Galaxy Note 2, featuring a 5.5-inch display, writes BGR.

Even though the first Samsung Galaxy Note was considered a huge smartphone (it has a 5.3-inch Super AMOLED display), the Asian phone maker decided to increase the size of Samsung Galaxy Note 2′s display with 0.2 inches.
So far, the rumors related to the new Samsung Galaxy phablet have talked about a special display, aforerunner for the flexible display developed by Samsung.
Rumor has it that Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will come with a HD Super AMOLED display, 5.5-inches diagonally, and recent leaks have revealed that the new phablet will come with an quad-core Exynos chipset. The chipset is similar to the on inside the Samsung Galaxy S3, only it will be clocked at 1.6 GHz instead of 1.4 GHz. It was also rumored that the smartphone will come with 2 GB of RAM and a  two body colors, White and Pebble Blue.
As about the operating system it will definitely come pre-loaded with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Even though Android 4.1 Jelly Bean’s source code was recently made available Samsung won’t integrate it inside their new device. An Android 4.1 Jelly Bean-powered quad-core Samsung smartphone would definitely harm Galaxy S3 sales, and it’s obvious that the South Korean company wouldn’t want their flagship overtaken by their phablet.
Therefore if Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is released on August 15th, then Apple’s iPhone 5 will have two powerful smartphones to fight – Note 2 and Galaxy S3 – instead of just one – the S3.
