Computex 2012 event is on-going in Taiwan, the homeland of ASUS where the computer manufacturer brought new products that aim to stimulate the public’s reaction. ASUS Transformer Book stays design line launched with by the company with Transformer and Transformer Prime: a tablet with a dock-in keyboard transforming the gadget into a netbook in no-time.

ASUS Transformer Book is set to become one of the most powerful tablets on the market and it packs a tablet-optimized Windows 8 which might be a screwy team. The Android tablets might see their market share threatened by the new slates powered by Microsoft’s operating system.
As I mentioned above, ASUS Transformer Book was the subject of a series of teasers launched by the Taiwan-based company over the last week. Now we can finally cast some glances at the first technical details of the slate. It seems that ASUS Transformer Book can be used both as a notebook or as a tablet, as its display is detachable from the keyboard.
Fortunately, we get to see that the tablet PC is underpinned by Windows 8 OS which was paired withIntel Ivy Bridge Core i3/i5/i7 chipsets which set to bring high performance. Transformer Book also sports 4 GB of RAM, USB 3.0 port and other goodies like ASUS SonicMaster and ASUS Golden Ear. The new ASUS Windows 8 tablet will have two cameras: the user-facing sensor for video calls and the primary 5 megapixel unit mounted on the back of the tablet for taking pictures and video recording.
ASUS Transformer Book will be available in three display size variants, 11.6-inch, 13-inch and 14-inch, all with IPS Full HD, multiouch technology.
Will the ASUS Transformer Book be able to take down the iPad and eat a big chunk of the tablet market share pie? We don’t know, as the price will be an important factor that will influence the customer’s choice. We will return with more details once the Taiwanese company makes them available.
