How To Set iPhone Alarm Music Of Your Choice?

Sony Xperia U, Go, & Sola say hello to official ICS update

While there are many Android owning consumers looking forward to their device being updated to the Jelly Bean operating system, there are still a lot of devices still waiting for Ice Cream Sandwich to arrive. Now though the official Android ICS update has started to hit more of the Sony Xperia range with new features added.

Sony seem to be pretty busy recently as earlier this week we told you that the Xperia ion on US carrier AT&T was getting updated to ICS, and now according to the Android Authority the Sony Xperia U, Xperia Go, and Xperia Sola are now getting the official Android Ice Cream Sandwich update.

Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 officially priced in Italy and Russia, available mid-November



Nokia had unveiled the Lumia 920 and the Lumia 820 at their NYC event on September 5th, but did not announce the pricing as well as the availability, it was a mystery till now. But Nokia Italy has done the impossible and actually announced the launch pricing of both the phones and the availability.
According to Plaffo, they got a press release from Nokia Italy, with the Nokia Italy CEO announcing both the devices. Here’s a translated quote, a part of the press release (we presume) :
We are pleased to announce that on our new models, the Nokia Lumia 920 and the Nokia Lumia 820, continuing the close cooperation between Nokia and Italian mobile operators who have decided to integrate them into their offer. A decision also based on the excellent feedback received from consumers in the current Lumia devices. In Italy, in particular, the increase in the market share of the Lumia range, gave us great satisfaction, and we believe that the innovative features that make these products unique and cutting edge today will be received with even greater clarity in the new devices that integrate extraordinary innovations in imaging technology, wireless charging and changing the display for an even fuller experience Windows ecosystem
The pricing of the Lumia 920 is 599 Euros and of the Lumia 820 is 499 Euros with the availability aimed at mid-November. Traditionally, most European nations have really high taxes and hence the price a bit higher than usual. We shall wait for the prices elsewhere to make a much better opinion of how the price is going to be.
Update: Nokia have officially revealed the price in Russia too, with the Lumia 920 costing 24,990 Rubles and the 820 costing 19,990 Rubles. Availability is aimed broadly for Q4 2012. The pre-order has already started.
Update 2: Nokia have officially revealed the price in Germany too. Lumia 920 is priced at 649 Euros and the Lumia 820 priced at 499 Euros. Both the devices would be available in November.

Samsung Galaxy Note II launched in India for Rs. 39,900



Samsung has launched the most expected Galaxy Note II in India. Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note II at IFA Berlin last month and the pre-booking started in India on Samsung eStore couple of weeks back. The Samsung Galaxy Note II comes with a 5.5-inch (1,280 x 720 pixels) HD Super AMOLED display, 1.6 GHz quad-core Exynos processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8MP auto focus camera with LED flash at the back and a 1.9MP front-facing camera. It has S Pen that comes with S Pen specific apps such as S Note, S Planner, Email with hand-writing integration and S Pen Keeper that alerts users if their pen is too far away from the Note II.

The Air View feature lets users to hover with the S Pen over an email, S Planner, image gallery, or video to preview the content without having to open it. It also has unique features such as Air View, Popup Note & Popup Play, Smart Stay, Direct Call and Screen Recorder.

The connectivity features include, 3G HSPA+ (HSDPA: 21Mbps HSUPA: 5.76Mbps ), WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4 & 5 GHz), Bluetooth v 4.0, aGPS, mHL and NFC. It has 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory, expandable memory up to 64GB with microSD and 3,100mAh battery.

The Samsung Galaxy Note II comes in Titanium Gray and Marble White colors and is priced at Rs. 39,900. It would be available from Samsung Smartphone Cafes, Samsung Plazas and select large format stores from tomorrow. It would be available from mobile outlets and retailers from next week.

Samsung Galaxy Camera launching in India by mid-November



Samsung launched the Galaxy Note II in India few hours back. They have also announced that the Galaxy Camera would launch in India in India by Diwali, which is mid-November. Samsung announced the Galaxy Camera at IFA Berlin last month. The 16 Megapixel camera has a F2.8 aperture, 23 mm focal length and 21x Optical Zoom Lens with BSI CMOS sensor. It packs in a 4.77-inch 308 ppi HD Super Clear Touch Display and is powered by an 1.4GHz Quad-Core processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean).
It has Smart Pro feature with 10 modes (Macro, Rich Tone, Action Freeze, Waterfall Trace, Light Trace, Beautiful Sunset, Blue Sky, Natural Green, Silhouette, Vivid Fireworks). It has 8GB of internal memory, 32GB of expandable memory with microSD. The Google Play Store lets you install apps and games.
This doesn’t have calling features but has several connectivity features including 3G (HSPA+ 21Mbps), HDMI 1.4, WiFi a/b/g/n, WiFi HT40, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS/GLONASS. It has a 1,650 mAh battery.

YouTube for Android updated with New UI for Android 2.2 and 2.3 devices and more new features



YouTube for Android has been updated to version 4.1.23 that brings new UI for Android Froyo and Gingerbread devices. The home page now shows recommended video on top. You can now add video to YouTube TV queue from the app and pick more channels from the YouTube picks. The new UI and Preloading features were released for Android 4.0 devices in June.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to hit Online Store on September 27 in India



Samsung is gearing up to launch the upgraded version of the immensely popular Galaxy Note – Galaxy Note 2 in India later this week.  Samsung had opened pre-bookings for the device and consumers could reserve a Galaxy Note 2 by paying Rs.5000 as an advance.In an email to customers who had pre-booked the phone on the company’s eStore , it is mentioned that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will be launched on the 27th on the eStore.The Note 2 has some interesting specs including a 5.5 inch display and a 3100 mAh battery and a Quad-core CPU.
It will be the first Samsung device to launch with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean officially in India.The news of the Note 2 launching here is not surprising considering the original Note has got a price cut recently. Pricing of the Note 2 is still not available but we expect it to be priced very similar to the Galaxy S3. It would be interesting to see how Samsung prices the Note 2 in India.
India is one of the first countries getting the Galaxy Note 2 and the company is dominating the smartphone market here with a wide range of Android phones at every price point.

Samsung Galaxy S III TouchWiz remote wipe hack patched with OTA update




There was mighty uproar yesterday about a dirty USSD hack that enabled links with a simple USSD code wipe the entire phone back to factory reset. It was widely reported to have affected all the major Samsung devices that were running the company’s custom skin called TouchWiz. But the good news is, the exploit has been immediately patched by Samsung, with an OTA update for its recently released, and massively successful Galaxy S3.

Pink Galaxy S3 launched by Samsung in Korea


Samsung has launched the Martian Pink Galaxy S3 in Korea. Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S3 in range of colors including Amber Brown, Garnet Red, Sapphire Black and Titanium Grey last month. This 32GB variant of the Galaxy S3 in Martian Pink color would be sold in limited numbers. It is aimed at women and younger generation. Samsung launched the Pink Galaxy Note in Korea earlier this April.

Other features are similar to the original Galaxy S3 including a 4.8 inch Super AMOLED display, 1.4GHz Quad-Core, 8MP auto focus camera with LED flash, 1.9MP front camera and 2100 mAh battery. It would go on sale in Korea later this week through 3 major Korean operators SKT, KT and LG U+.

Samsung updates Android 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrade list

One of the biggest criticisms of the Android platform is the continued fragmentation of it, with many devices that are not too old still sitting old older versions of the operating system. It does seem though in some cases the upgrading to the most recent Android release is happening a little quicker, and Samsung now updates its Jelly Bean 4.1 upgrade list.

Only yesterday the company started to push out the Android 4.1 upgrade to the Galaxy S3 in certain regions, and now Samsung has listed another fifteen devices that are down for the upgrade, and according to the Android Community it is leaving out some of its older hardware.

Nokia Asha 308 Dual SIM and Asha 309 affordable Touch Screen phones announced



Nokia has announced 2 new phones, the Asha 308 and Asha 309 in the Asha range. These are thesuccessors of the Asha 305 and 306 that was introduced in June. Both these phones come with a 3.0-inch (240 x 400 pixels), scratch-resistant capacitive touch display and a 2MP camera. It runs on Nokia Asha OS with Swipe Interface.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update starts rolling out



Samsung has started rolling out Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update for the Galaxy S3, earlier than expected. Samsung announced earlier this month that the Android Jelly Bean update would be available for the Galaxy S3 in October and for the Galaxy S2 in November.
This update would bring  faster performance, Reorganized settings menu, 2 Homescreen modes, S Note,  Google Now service, contextual search, Better notifications, Resizable Pop-up play screen and more new features.
The update is about 774MB and is now available for Galaxy S3 users in Poland via Kies. It would be gradually rolled out for other countries soon. It took 2 months for Samsung to roll out the ICS update for the S2 in India after the official roll out in Korea. Hope Samsung rolls out the Jelly Bean update for the S3 users in India soon.

Google Nexus 7 launching in India in November



Asus India today confirmed at the PadFone and Transformer Pad launch event that the Google Nexus 7 is expected to launch in India in November according from reports for CIOL. It might come with a different name and few changes in the specification says Ausus, the hardware partner. Google announced the Nexus 7, their first Android tablet to come with Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) in June at Google I/O for $199. There are rumors floating around for the Nexus 7 tablet with 3G support which is expected mid-October.
It has 7-inch (1280×800 pixels) IPS display and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor and a 12 core GPU. It has a 1.2MP front-facing camera and has 1 GB RAM, 8 / 16GB of internal memory, NFC, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth and 4325 mAh.
The price of the Nexus tablet would be announced in October.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Pre-Booking starts in India




Samsung has just started Pre-Booking for the much awaited Galaxy Note 2 on it’s India eStore. The device which is the successor to the original Note was unveiled last month at IFA Berlin along with the Galaxy Camera. The phone has a 5.5 inch display and runs Android JellyBean out of the box. Samsung is asking for Rs.5000 as an advance payment for the pre-booking which will be adjusted when the device goes on sale later this month.
Samsung is throwing in a free Desktop Dock worth Rs. 2399 for pre-order customers.
The Note 2 has some pretty interesting specs.  It packs a quad core processor and a 3100mAh battery.The Note 2 also comes with S-Pen stylus much like the previous the Note.
From what we have been hearing the Note 2 is expected to hit stores in India by Sep 24-28th. Just read the fine print and it says that “A pre-booking order cannot be cancelled once placed.”

How To Jailbreak iOS 6 iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS iPod Touch 4G

iOS 6 is out for download and here comes our first iOS 6 jailbreak tutorial that talks about how tojailbreak 6 / 6.0 on iPhone 4/3gs and iPod Touch 4g.
