Apple again seen testing FaceTime over 3G

While folks in the jailbreak community have been able to make FaceTime calls on cellular networks for quite some time now, others haven’t been so lucky. Since it debuted in 2010, the video calling feature has remained Wi-Fi-only.
Today, however, evidence has surfaced that suggests Apple is testing a FaceTime over 3G option. The folks over at iDevice posted the above screenshot, which was taken from an error message pulled out of iOS 5.1.1…
As most of you probably know, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen such evidence. Last summer, a similar feature was discovered buried deep down in beta versions of iOS 5. Andwe found similar strings ourselves in iOS 5.1.
Maybe the feature has always been there. It’s just never been activated.
Apple would certainly need to get the carriers’ approval before deploying such a feature. Not only would FaceTime use a large amount of wireless data — which is becoming more expensive, but it would cannibalize profitable voice calls.
Perhaps with the next iPhone expected to run on 4G LTE networks, we could finally see FaceTime set free this fall. But we aren’t counting on it. Carriers seem to be having a hard enough time as it is just trying to deal with iMessage.
What do you think?

Swipe Safari brings OS X Lion inspired functionality to Mobile Safari

Meet the brand new Safari. No, Apple hasn’t made any upgrades to Safari themselves, but you can gain a significantly better Safari browser right now by installing Swipe Safari – a new jailbreak tweak that just touched down on Cydia’s BigBoss repo.
Swipe Safari promises to bring OS X Lion’s Safari navigation to the small screen, along with a host of other improved options and abilities.

iPhone Siri UK pathetic so opt for International Locations

Last October when Apple launched the latest version of the iPhonethe company revealed the new Siri voice assistant feature, which made its debut on the iPhone 4S and is currently the only iOS device it officially works on. Trouble is if you have the iPhone 4S and live outside of the US the service is not much use to you, and in the UK its pathetic you cannot search any businesses or addresses at the moment, Siri in the UK is just a waste of time and unless Apple turns on the switch to make it work to its full advantage. Well now there is a new Jailbreak tweak called International Locations for Siri.

iPhone 4S users in the US can use a number of location based Siri functions, but if you live in the UK and ask it where the nearest McDonalds is you have no chance of getting an answer, but the hard working jailbreaking community has found a way to make up for Apple’s shortcomings. An article on iDownloadBlog is reporting about a new Assistant Extensions plugin titled International Locations for Siri, which basically allows users to perform location based searches outside of the US.

London Police to use new software to crack smartphones

While many people now own smartphones since they have become cheaper in recent years, the devices are also used by the criminal community to organise their crimes, but the Police in London are set to use new software to help them crack smartphones.

According to an article over at Techradar the Metropolitan Police is set to introduce new forensic software, which will let officers extract vital information from a suspect’s mobile device in a matter of minutes. The software from Aesco can quickly obtain information on calls, emails, and messaging from a handset, even if the SIM card is locked. This will mean that officers will no longer have to send a handset off to the crime lab for weeks at a time to retrieve such information.

More Samsung Galaxy class smartphones on the cards

The Galaxy line of smartphones have thus far done exceedingly well for Samsung, especially with the Samsung Galaxy S2 and it looks like the Galaxy S3 will be yet another huge success, but when you have a good thing going it is always best to expand, and as such it appears that old Sammy has no intentions of giving up on their Galaxy name.
According to the guys over at Intomobile by way of FusibleSamsung on the 10th of May submitted applications for such Galaxy device names as the Samsung Galaxy Lunge with the serial number 85621870, the Samsung Galaxy Wield serial number 85621864, the Samsung Galaxy Rivet with serial number 85621854, the Galaxy Forge serial number 8561866, Galaxy Victory number 85621853, and the Samsung Galaxy Mission with serial number 8561866.

Fold To Unlock – A New Lock Screen Concept

Here comes a brand new idea from Anton Kudin, an interface and Web designer. He has created the images of an awesome fold-to-unlock iOS lock-screen concept and posted it to the popular idea-sharing website Dribble. As I understood the concept is based on folding the screen by swiping your two fingers towards inside the screen in order to unlock instead of the typical slider by default.

Macbooks and iMac To Have Retina Display

Most of you are aware that Apple’s WWDC would be held in June 2012, as the dates are coming closer there are lot of reports about the next generations iPhone and other Apple products. Previously it was reported that Macbook Pro will have retina display in next model and Macbook Air may not be able to get this due to battery issues since Retina Display required more powerful battery. But now, it has been reported on 9to5mac that iPhone is working to provide Retina display in Macbook Air and iMac. So this is a good news if someone is planning to purchase a new Macbook Air he must wait till theApple’s WWDC in June 2012 and enjoy the high resolution experience with the latest Retina Display technology.
If you don’t know more about retina display, just to make you clear it is same as the display of the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and the new iPad. So experiencing the same great picture and video quality on a laptop will be definitely a dream experience which I am waiting for sure and would like to replace my existing Mac with the new one as soon as it is announced and released after the WWDC, hopefully. What do you think about the new Macbooks and iMac with retina display? Share your thoughts in below comments.

iPhone 4S Jailbreak for iOS 5.1 Release Coming on May 25th?

Hackers are testing the iPhone 4S Jailbreak for iOS 5.1 and iOS 5.1.1  and working on a tool, like Absinthe, so the average iPhone owner can jailbreak the iPhone 4S.
This testing takes time, and according to security researcher pod2g, the iPhone 4S jailbreak release date could come in a couple of weeks.
It just so happens that the Hack in the Box conference, takes place on May 24th and 25th in Taiwan and @pod2g will be there to talk on May 25th about the iPhone 4S jailbreak processfor Corona and Absinthe Jailbreak tools. He is joined by members of the Dream Team of hackers including Joshua Hill, Nikias Bassen and David Wang.
The Hack in the box conference website states that, “Our main focus is on new and groundbreaking attack and defense methods that have not been seen or discussed in public before.”, which would make it the perfect stage to talk about a new iOS 5.1.x untethered iPhone 4s jailbreak.
