Gear 4 Launching Angry Birds Speakers in August

We’ve received some exclusive information and pictures of the Angry Birds speakers that are set to debut in August this year.
The speakers are available in three different variants – Red Bird, Black Bird and Green Pig.  All are similarly sized and are designed according to their respective game characters. There may be more models based on other designs coming up but these three will be the first to launch.
On the speaker, you get the Volume +/-, Bass +/- and On/Off Button. You also get an AUX in port. The pictures also suggest that an iPod/iPhone dock is available. Each of the speaker has a different style of docking and we also received information that various models or dock adapters will be released to match the customer’s phone.
For now, we know that the speakers will be on sale starting some time in August. But we have no iformation regarding the exact launch date or pricing yet. We will let you know as soon as we get more information.
For those who are interested in the speakers, we suggest that you keep an eye on MobileFun as they will be selling the speakers as soon as they’re available at competitive prices

iOS 5 Jailbroken on iPod Touch [Pictures]

It was yesterday that Apple announced iOS 5 at the WWDC 2011, and now it has been jailbroken on the iPod Touch. MuscleNerd tweeted a few pictures of a jailbroken 4th generation iPod Touch in which Cydia and iSSH icons are visible on the Home Screen. He also mentioned in his twitter status that iOS 5 has very few surprises so far, but last night at WWDC Apple said that more than 200 new features are present in iOS 5.

iOS 5 Photo & Camera Features Explained, User Friendly

The new iOS 5 was announced yesterday, with a stunning 200+ new features to boot. How about some photo and camera features explained and how user friendly these new additions will be for iPhone 4 customers.
Taking photos with the iPhone 4 is already good, but the new photos and camera features within the new iOS 5 makes it so much better, we will explain why this is the case. At the moment the only way you can snap a picture is by tapping on the camera app and then once it is open you tap the little camera icon to snap pictures.

Well the new iOS 5 makes the whole camera experience very easy indeed and user friendly, it now features grid lines, single-tap focus, exposure locks to compose a picture, pinch-to-zoom gestures and the ability to use the up volume button to take photos.
The new lock screen shortcut allows you to double click the Home Button, when this is done a new camera icon next to the slide unlock button will appear, simply tap this and it will open from the lock screen. If you have a passcode set you can use this to unlock the camera from the unlock screen to take photos.

The new grid lines feature allows the user to align photos, pinch-to-zoom gestures helps the user zoom in and out with ease, this means you do not have to tap the screen and then slide the focus button. The iOS 5 has also added the single-tap focus option and locks to compose a picture on the move. We also like the fact you can use the volume-up button to take photos rather than the on-screen button.
The photos app has been improved as well, so much so users will be able to create albums straight from the iOS device such as the iPhone 4. It will also allow users to rotate, crop, remove red-eye and enhance photos, and last but not least there is the new photo stream feature, this is enabled in iCloud and allows photos taken on the iOS device to be synced to other iOS devices automatically.
iPhone Hacks mentions that the above features are not groundbreaking but are useful and user friendly, and we have to agree. We cannot wait for the new iOS 5 to release this fall.

What is a MicroSIM or 3FF SIM Card ?

Each and everyone of us use a SIM card today. Not only one, may be many. What was once an expensive chip to acquire back in the early days of mobile telephony has become a very cheap plastic card that is available even for free if the mobile operators are desperate to add new connections. Yesterday Apple announced theiPad which works over Wi-Fi and 3G / GSM networks with microSIM cards. If you thought that the MicroSIM or 3FF Sim Card is a new invention , you might be wrong . The introduction of these cards dates back to 2003.
According to a story by SmartCardTrends , the ESTI or The European Telecommunications Standards Institute‘s  project Smart Card platform planned to introduce a  new smart card which was half the size of the current day SIM Cards or Subscriber Identity Module. The introduction was mainly to cater to the Data Only GSM devices in the market.  With the MicroSIM card you can have a SIM inside your watch , Camera , iPad  or pretty much any device which needs only data and no telephony unlike the normal SIM Card.
Here is a great visual comparison from a Swiss institute
This new form of the SIM card was named the 3FF SIM Card or Third Form Factor.
First Form – Credit Card Sized cards
Second Form – Stamp Sized SIM cards like you see in the image above
Third Form – microSIM
A 3FF SIM  Card measures only 12mm x 15mm compared to the current SIM card which measures 15×25 mm
