HTC Desire getting Gingerbread this month

HTC Desire is known as one of the famous and most selling Android devices of all time. It was launched byHTC last year in February after the launch of Nexus One. As the Nexus One is a Google phone, it always gets the updates before any other Android phone. Nexus One is already running on Gingerbread, where as the HTC Desire users are looking forward it from a long time now. But today, Three UK has officially announced via Twitter that HTC Desire will get Android 2.3 Gingerbread in late April or early May. As you all may know that update for unlocked version is always launched before the locked version. So may be SIM-free version of Desire will get the Gingerbread update before the carrier one. Along with the HTC Desire, HTC Desire HD, Desire Z and Incredible S will also receive it as we told you recently. So Desire owners don’t throw away your phone because you will be receiving an update soon. Are you excited about this good news? Tell us!

Sony Ericsson just sent us an invite asking us to block our calendars for the 7th of April in India. Although the invite does not mention anything about the Arc or Play , most of you know that these handsets are coming soon to India as Pre-orders have begun.

The Arc is expected to be priced at Rs.25000-30000
The Xperia Play aka the Playstation phone is surely going to get the gamers excited. The device has the best gaming controls for a phone . The Play is expected to cost Rs.30000-35000

While we are excited about these handsets and we hope Sony Ericsson gets the pricing right. Are you excited about the Arc and Play ?

Samsung Galaxy S Plus on its way

Galaxy S, the best Android based player by Samsung, is coming in a new form, as Samsung Galaxy S Plus.
samsung galaxy S plus Samsung Galaxy S Plus on its way

The addition of word Plus in the name is not just for fun. Samsung Galaxy S Plus has some Plus side to it as well. Let us see what is it offers in terms of Specs:
  • 1.4 GHz processor
  • Metallic back cover – No more plastic
  • 4 inch super AMOLED screen
  • 8 GB on-board memory
  • 1650 mAh battery
  • Android OS 2.3.x (Gingerbread)
The 1.4 Ghz processor is definitely a boost for mobile devices and would allow great game playing and HD video playback. The best part, for me, is the Metallic back cover. Samsung, due to its plastic body, kind of look cheap. But Samsung Galaxy S Plus would definitely change this image. And last but not least, Android OS 2.3.x (Gingerbread) is something I would go for blindly. It is the latest in the family of Gingerbread and is a great OS to play along with.

Android Gingerbread Coming to Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Summertime

Well now here’s a bit of good new for all you owners of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, although Sony Ericsson some time ago made it quite clear that the Xperia X10 would not gain OS updates beyond Android Ã‰clair, it appears Sony Ericsson has had a sudden change of heart.
According to the guys over at Android Central, the Sony Ericsson Product Blog has announced they will deliver Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread to the Xperia X10 at the end of Q2 early Q3.
Apparently Rikard Skogberg of Sony Ericsson has said that the company has listened to its customers and thus as a result of developing the Android Gingerbread update for the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc,Sony Ericsson Xperia Play and Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo it has been able to include the Xperia X10 with a “special development project.”
However, apparently the Android Gingerbread update will not be pushed out over the air but will be downloaded by way of a PC update utility, and once upgraded there is no option for going back.
So there it is Xperia X10 owners, you can at least now look forward to some Gingerbread goodness hitting your device later in the year.

who-needs-a-pc-when-you-can-have-a-superphone

IDC has thrown out some new numbers recently that demonstrate something quite significant. For the first time in history, smartphones outsold PCs.
In the fourth quarter of last year, a total of 100.9 million smartphones were sold, compared to 92.1 million PCs. This trend is likely to continue as more powerful smartphones and tablets, as well as niche form factors, fill the market space and provide consumers with more options.
Not surprisingly, Nokia came out on top, selling over 5 million Symbian handsets. Following Nokia in the sales charts are Apple, RIM, Samsung and HTC. Android is heavily represented among vendors such as Samsung, HTC, LG and Motorola, further driving smartphone sales. After all, according to Canalys, Android did happen to grow 615% last year!

Review – Skullcandy Lowrider Headphones

Introduction
Have you ever been in a situation where you had to choose between sound quality or portability while travelling? If yes, then this review is meant for you. We discuss how the Skullcandy Lowrider is the ideal and economical travel headphone.
Packaging
The Skullcandy Lowrider comes in the typical clear packaging just like other Skullcandy products. This is a good way to let the customer see exactly what he will be buying before hand.

The box contains only the headphones and no other accessory such as a pouch or 6.3mm audio jack adapter. We understand it not having an audio jack adapter and for the price it sells at, we cannot expect much. But as it is a portable headphone, it would have been good if they provided a pouch of some kind.
Design and Build Quality
The Skullcandy Lowrider is an On Ear headphone. The headphone has DJ articulation which is a plus for portable headphones such as these. They fold up into a small object for easy carrying while travelling. When opened up, it becomes a full fledged headphone.
There is one problem however. Even when the headphone is opened up, it is quite flimsy  and will easily close up again because it is not locked in position.
Skullcandy Lowriders are aimed at younger customers and are available in a wide variety of colours and designs to match the requirements of any customer.
Comfort
The headphones can be adjusted to fit your head perfectly. The headphones are not tight on your head and thus it is comfortable for listening for long durations. The headphones are very light and you hardly get exhausted wearing it.
There is leather touch padding in the ear cups and also on the headband.  We would have preferred if it was cloth rather than leather to avoid sweating.
The length of the cable will be adequate in any situation whether you are on the move or whether you are at home and using it with your PC/laptop. It does not get tangled easily and thus  avoids all the hassle when ou need to use it.
Sound Quality
The sound quality on the headphone is great. There is very little or no distortion even at maximum volume. The gold plated 3.5mm audio jack makes sure of optimum quality. The bass is on the lower side even if you tweak the equalizer to give a bass boost.
The output volume is good enough and well needed because the headphones fail to drain out outside noise because of a loose fit. So you will sometimes need to raise the volume in noisy environments etc.
Conclusion
The Skullcandy Lowrider is the perfect headphone for those who need uncomprimised audio quality while travelling thanks to it’s great portability and pricing.
It is avaiable for purchase at MobileFun.
