Improved Emoticon Keyboard on Windows Phone 8 Demod
Windows Phone already had one of the best keyboards in mobile phone space. So I was very surprised when I found out that they were changing it in any fashion. They have taken the Emoticon on the keyboard and made the list bigger and even tiled them in the "Metro" theme.

This set up reminds me a lot of the emoticons on the very popular IM service "WhatsApp". There is a ton more choices for every occasion. While this isn't a game changer it is a very nice addition to an already great keyboard.

Street Lights In Central London To Be Controlled by iPad

It was reported by WestLondonTodaythat Westminster City Council has approved a plan to replace all its 14,000 street lights with smart iPad controllable lights during next four years. This has been a great initiative that will surely require big investment but in long term will result in cost saving in terms of energy conservation. This is first time in the UK that a light infrastructure will be monitored and controlled electronically.
Smart Street Lights

For the first time in the UK a system is electronically monitoring lights and infrastructure if a bulb needs changing or a wire is broken the system will be able to detect it so an engineer can be dispatched. The system even has the ability to predict when a lamp is likely to fail.
It also carries a function for brightness levels to be lowered or raised at the touch of a button, even from an engineer standing under the lamp column with an iPad and a corresponding application.
The initial estimated cost is 3.25 million pounds that should be covered through energy conservation and reduced maintenance in first seven years of operation via efficient monitoring and control of the system. After the year 2015/2016 an estimated saving of £420,000 per year is expected.

Nokia Beats Google to the Punch by Seven Years with a Patent

Nokia has always been a little ahead of the game when it comes to new technologies. (a little slow to use them sometimes) Text messages, GSM, mobile internet all Nokia. Now it seems that they were seven years ahead of Google on Multiuser on a smartphone.
Google now has multiusers on their tablets but not on their phones in the latest build of Android 4.2. This is because way back in 2005 Nokia patented the idea on a smartphone.
Nokia patent US 2005/0107114 A1, called "multi-user mobile telephone,"
A mobile telephone is designed to be used by several different end-users at different times. A first end-user can alter the mobile telephone so that it operates in a manner specific to that first end-user and a subsequent end-user can alter the mobile telephone so that it operates in a manner specific to that subsequent end-user; wherein each end-user has only to respond to prompts displayed on a screen in order to alter the mobile telephone so that it operates in a manner specific to that end-user.
Nokia Beats Google to the Punch by Seven Years with a Patent
Does this mean it's never coming to an Android phone near you? Nope it just means that they have to settle out a deal with Nokia before they can make that happen.

Early yesterday, word spread that Microsoft's $15 upgrade offer for Windows 8 had a loophole that would allow anyone to get the new OS for dirt cheap. Well, the boys at Redmond were quick to catch on and have patched the loophole.
Microsoft fixes Windows 8 Rs. 699 upgrade loophole
Microsoft has extended an offer to those who had bought Windows 7 machines after June 2, 2012, allowing them to get the new OS for just $15 as against the regular $40 price. All users had to do was go to the offer website and fill in their details along with the brand, model and date of purchase of their machine and following that, Microsoft would dispatch a promo code to the supplied email which would offer the whopping discount in the purchase stage. It didn't matter whether these details were correct or not, but as long as all the fields were filled in and the date of purchase was post June 2nd 2012, you were on your way to a really cheap upgrade.

Samsung SCH-W2013 pointless Android flip phone for niche market

My first mobile phone was a flip phone, the Motorola RAZR, a handset that had a great feel and good flip action, along with back in those days what was considered a large display, but times move on, and one would have thought that the flip phone form factor had fallen by the wayside, and to some extent this is true. However, it appears there is still a niche market for flip phones that old Sammy wants to exploit.

It appears Samsung is taking a step back in time because according to a report over on Android Headlines, old Sammy has a flip phone up their sleeve for the Chinese Android market known as the Samsung SCH-W2013. However albeit sporting that old style flip phone form factor along with a rather small 3.3-inch AMOLED touch screen, the handset is powered by a quad core chip, the same as the Samsung Galaxy S3.

GTA V pre-order now print exposed

The creative gamers could certainly design and print a Grand Theft Auto 5 poster, which could hint towards the expected Spring 2013 release date, and this is the image that has made its way online revealing a GTA V launch window most gamers agree on. The question we have now is not the chances of GTA V arriving around this time, but how authentic this marketing material looks?
GTA V pre-order now print exposed
ou can see the images below that we found via this forum, and clearly state “Grand Theft Auto V” with a small tagline under, which reads “pre-order now” and offers a rough timeline rather than an exact release date. Personally this picture looks as authentic as it gets, so there will be a good chance that this poster is official although it hasn’t been confirmed or denied at the time of writing.

Dragon Mobile Assistant for Android ICS and up

When Apple first released the iPhone 4S the company introduced the world to its Siri voice assistant, but rival platform Android has long had its own versions of Siri unfortunately many of these not cutting the mustard in terms of performance. Google Now has been pretty much well received so far, but we now have news of the Dragon Mobile Assistant for Android devices running ICS and up.

The Siri rival has just launched on Google Play, and as the Android Community are reporting is still in beta so there are still some minor niggles that need ironing out. The application though is available free, and is a great way to interact with your smartphone, and below we have embedded the demo video for you.

Don’t Miss Out On These BlackBerry Apps

Research In Motion’s (RIM) BlackBerry has incurred huge losses since its sever went down in October 2011, bringing the large number of users – mostly professionals and business personnel – to a complete halt. Since then, it has been reported that BlackBerry’s share of the smartphone market has hit devastatingly – statistics given by IDC tells us it has dropped from 13.6% in 2011 to 6.4% in 2012, giving space to its competitors, Android and Apple to grow and prosper.

However, with all the technical problems surrounding BlackBerry, its loyal users still stick to the device because of its secured platform, which is highly resistant to various malware including BlackBerry spy software and BlackBerry monitoring app. The closed nature of its platform ensures users security while downloading apps, which are specially designed for BlackBerry and available at BlackBerry App World. Let’s look at some famous BlackBerry apps meant for business and entertainment.

1. AVG Anti-Virus

There are many different decent freeware programs to protect you from spyware and malware, but AVG is consistently rated highest when it comes to providing complete virus protection comparable to the kind you’d normally purchase at an expensive rate. Rolltop Amazing Folding Computer Concept

Rolltop

Just amazing! These were my 1st words when I 1st seen this concept laptop. I mean laptops that fold in strange shapes are no new thing but this one is the most spectacular so far.
Named the Rolltop, this is a computer system that comes from designer Evgeny Orkin and promises a lot. This is actually a folding computer concept that will have a 17 inch screen for better visibility.
Rolltop
Rolltop
Also things like power cord, loudspeaker, webcam, USB portand and many more are integrated in the design ensuring nothing will be missed by the user. And to add to the level of impressiveness, for a more beauty the back can be decorated with a variety of options ensuring a more beautiful gadget in the inside and on the outside.

Samsung flexible AMOLED displays delayed, Galaxy Note 3 maybe

For some time now we’ve been following the progress of Samsung’s flexible AMOLED displays dubbed Youm. We were hoping to have seen these new screens used by now and at one time it seemed possible they may appear on the new Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (Note II). However this didn’t come to fruition and it now appears that these flexible AMOLED displays have now been delayed. You never know though, they may finally make a debut on the Galaxy Note 3 or Galaxy S4.

Samsung originally planned the YOUMflexible displays to arrive in Q3 this year but it has now been reported that the mass production has met with a problem. In a way though this isn’t an issue for Samsung as its regular glass AMOLED displays are still proving extremely popular and sales of these hasn’t slowed, hence the delay of the flexible displays. The Galaxy S3 has been a phenomenal hit for Samsung and uses a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD display with a 5.5-inch version also following to the Galaxy Note 2. Indeed rather than production of these AMOLED displays being reduced, Samsung has actually increased it instead to keep up with demand.

LG Spectrum Android ICS 4.0.4 OTA update, huge changes

Today we have news of the LG Spectrum Android ICS 4.0.4 OTA update, which brings some huge changes.

It was a few months ago now since LG officially said that it would update the Spectrum to Android 4.0, but the months went by without any sign of the new software. Now though as Droid Life are reporting the Android 4.0.4 update has been approved by Verizon for release.

Pinch To Unlock Your LockScreen

Pinch to unlock is a new jailbreak tweak that gives you alternate way of unlocking your lockscreen. If you are willing to change the old way of swiping or sliding the bottom of your lock screen you can install this new Cydia jailbreak tweak and unlock your lockscreen by just pinching you two fingers in either direction i.e. to inside or outside the same way in which we zoom in and zoom out the screens. Although this is a new way but I feel it is difficult as well because in the classical way you are using only one finger to slide to unlock now you will need two fingers means you may need to use both hands so this seems a little hasty but good news you are not loosing the slide to unlock function so you can use either way of unlocking.
