How much RAM installed in your PC?
How much RAM allocated?

Everything depends on the operating system and use of the PC.

The greater the amount of memory, the greater the gain in performance is significant. But installing more than 512 million (or 1024 for a recent system) will benefit not only for the use of 3D software gourmands resources (games, video editing, design software .).

The following values are minima's given as indicative.
These values can vary depending on the processor and peripherals installed.

OS: Windows XP
Use: Office + surf Internet
RAM: mini 256 million, 512 million for the use of multiple applications.

OS: Windows XP
Use: 3D Games moderately greedy, image processing current (photo).
RAM: 512 million mini.

OS: Windows XP
Use: 3D Games recent video editing.
RAM: 1024 million mini.

OS: Windows 2000 Pro
Use: Office + surf Internet
RAM: mini 192 million, 256 million for the use of multiple applications.

OS: Windows 2000 Pro
Use: 3D Games moderately greedy, image processing current (photo).
RAM: 256 to 384 million.

OS: Windows 2000 Pro
Use: 3D Games recent video editing.
RAM: 512 million mini.

OS: Windows 98, 95 and NT 4.0
Use: Office + surf Internet
RAM: 64 million mini, 128 MB for the use of multiple applications.

Use: Office + surf Internet
RAM: 512 million mini.

OS: Windows Vista (with Aero interface)
Use: Office + surf Internet
RAM: 1 Gio mini (with a powerful graphics card).

OS: Windows Vista (with Aero interface)
Use: 3D Games recent + video editing
RAM: 1.5 to 2 Gio following the game (with a powerful graphics card).

Ideally, it will set the size of the swap to 1.5 times the amount of RAM installed.
To adjust the size of the swap, go to:
  • Start> Control Panel> System

Under Vista: Advanced System Settings
Under other Windows: Advanced
  • Under "Performance", click "Settings"
  • Go under the Advanced tab
  • Under "Virtual Memory", click "Edit"
  • Set the amount of RAM on a hard and fast with enough free space,
  • according to the following criteria:

Initial size = 1.5 times the amount of RAM installed.
Size = 2 times the original size.

Apple developing glasses-free 3D and holographic display technology

A patent filed in 2006 shows Apple’s interest in the 3D realms, showing a new type of three dimensional and holographic glasses-free display. A lot has changed since 2006 since, and while the patent probably had concentrated on television, monitors and even projection systems, its present applications in smaller, mobile segment are certainly appealing to Apple, the company behind the bestselling iPhone and iPad devices.

The display technology supposedly uses lens-like bumps on the screen that deflect stereoscopic images from each pixel into the right and left eyes of the viewer. While it does seem like the viewing angles would be quite limited with this approach, and not ideal for multiple viewers, Apple’s patent claims the display combined with 3D imaging technology would be able to track the movements of multiple viewers and manipulate the deflected image to keep it crispy andautostereoscopic for all.

Nokia N8 India to Gain Firmware Update in January

For Nokia N8 owners over in India there’s been a few rumours flying around for a while now that the Symbian^3 smartphone would at some point see a firmware update although up until now there wasn’t any confirmation of such a firmware update.
However, according to an article over on Techtree by Prasad Naik, Nokia India has now given a little confirmation via their Twitter account when responding to a query by a user which states “@nerrajvohra Hey Neeraj,Nokia N8 users an expect a firmware update sometime in Jan. We’ll keep you posted.”
So it would appear that the Nokia N8 in India will see an upgrade in firmware at some point in January. But Nokia India didn’t stop with the announcement of a firmware update for the Nokia N8 and in another tweet announced that the Nokia C6 will launch in India in January as well.
Nokia India tweeted…”@Vaibhavo209 Hey Vaibhav, Nokia C6-01 will be available by January.” So again no solid date but it does confirm that the Nokia C6 will release sometime in January and is the first Nokia device to use Nokia Clear Black Display tech, an explanation video of which can be viewed (here)
