Nexus 4 on T-Mobile USA contract-free price official

When it comes to the Nexus 4 smartphone, no doubt many were somewhat disappointed when Google put the device up for sale on Google Play, with stocks of both the 8GB and 16GB versions selling out rapidly. However, if you are over in the good old US of A, your preferred carrier is T-Mobile, and you are desperate for the Nexus 4, T-Mobile USA will be offering the device today.

Unfortunately though, although the 16GBNexus 4 from T-Mobile USA commands a price tag of $199, you will be required to sign up for the usual two-year agreement, but it is roughly $150 less than the unsubsidised 16GB Nexus 4.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean rollout for T-Mobile USA, check now

It seems strange to some of you that the Samsung Galaxy S3 has yet to see the Jelly Bean update rollout in North America. However, we’re happy to report that T-Mobile are now pushing the update, so you’re advised to check now via your Samsung Kies software to see if you have it yet. While this is great news for those with the Galaxy S III on T-Mobile USA, it’s a little disappointing for those on other carriers such as AT&T, as they still have to play the waiting game.

While it’s easy to put the blame on the likes of Samsung to get Jelly Bean later than other devices, more often than not it’s down to the carriers in the US, which is the case this time. What we do find strange is that T-Mobile USA did not even make an announcement that they would be making the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean available, instead it just appeared – but who’s complaining? Although it’s now showing on their support page.

Download Chrome 23 And Get Optimized GPU Acceleration And “Do Not Track”

The Stable version of Chrome 23 has already been announced by Google. The update includes some interesting additions and bug fixes. There are a few nice features that come along with this upgrade. For example, the load on your system’s CPU will be consistently reduced with new support for GPU-accelerated video decoding. And considering that the video card needs less power than the processor, this can lead to an extended battery life (Google claims that it can be extended with up to 25%), in case you have a laptop or tablet.
google-chrome-logo1

Also, you can access sites that require permissions more easily as the browser features a page icon in the address bar which allows you to view the current permission and change it (you don’t need to search through the Settings dialog anymore. Google Chrome 23 also features a new “do not track” option, though the company itself admits that the option is not always effective and they will further work to improve it.
The company has announced that the Dev version of Chrome has been updated to 24.0.1312.5 for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Chrome Frame. This particular release is not as intriguing because it only brings some minor optimizations and bug fixes.
If you already have Google Chrome installed on your system, then the auto-updating feature will provide you the new version. However, if you don’t have the browser yet, you can get Chrome 23 using this link.

Reasons to choose the Nokia Lumia 820

If the brand new Windows Phone 8 operating system has caught your eye and you’re looking to invest in a handset sporting the software then take a look at the Nokia Lumia 820. At a price, which is a little easier on the pocket than the Lumia 920, Nokia has created a device that blends great functionality with some serious style. So why should you plump for the Lumia 820?

Designed for life

For those who prefer a more compact design to larger-framed smartphones, the Nokia Lumia 820 is ideal as not only is it smaller than the Lumia 920, (measuring in at 9.9 x 123.8 x 68.5 mm in comparison to the flagship’s‎ 10.7 x 130.3 x 70.8 mm vital statistics), but it also weighs less at 160g in contrast to the Lumia 920’s 185g. Whilst 15g may not seem like a massive difference, in mobile phone terms it counts for a lot, and if you don’t like your handset to weigh down and bulk out your pocket then the 820 is the Lumia to choose.

We are now in the busy time of year where we see the shops full of eager consumers looking to pick up a bargain for themselves, or a present for someone else. There is no reason why smartphones can’t be part of this bargain hunting, and it seems T-Mobile is planning some price drops on some phones including the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and S3.

The recent announcement of the Nexus 4 and its price via the Google Play Store for an unlocked handset will offer stiffer competition to the various carriers around the world. A previously reliable source has sent BriefMobile some images of T-Mobile internal memos that show the carrier may be about to drop the prices on a number of smartphones.

Improved Emoticon Keyboard on Windows Phone 8 Demod
Windows Phone already had one of the best keyboards in mobile phone space. So I was very surprised when I found out that they were changing it in any fashion. They have taken the Emoticon on the keyboard and made the list bigger and even tiled them in the "Metro" theme.

This set up reminds me a lot of the emoticons on the very popular IM service "WhatsApp". There is a ton more choices for every occasion. While this isn't a game changer it is a very nice addition to an already great keyboard.

Street Lights In Central London To Be Controlled by iPad

It was reported by WestLondonTodaythat Westminster City Council has approved a plan to replace all its 14,000 street lights with smart iPad controllable lights during next four years. This has been a great initiative that will surely require big investment but in long term will result in cost saving in terms of energy conservation. This is first time in the UK that a light infrastructure will be monitored and controlled electronically.
Smart Street Lights

For the first time in the UK a system is electronically monitoring lights and infrastructure if a bulb needs changing or a wire is broken the system will be able to detect it so an engineer can be dispatched. The system even has the ability to predict when a lamp is likely to fail.
It also carries a function for brightness levels to be lowered or raised at the touch of a button, even from an engineer standing under the lamp column with an iPad and a corresponding application.
The initial estimated cost is 3.25 million pounds that should be covered through energy conservation and reduced maintenance in first seven years of operation via efficient monitoring and control of the system. After the year 2015/2016 an estimated saving of £420,000 per year is expected.

Nokia Beats Google to the Punch by Seven Years with a Patent

Nokia has always been a little ahead of the game when it comes to new technologies. (a little slow to use them sometimes) Text messages, GSM, mobile internet all Nokia. Now it seems that they were seven years ahead of Google on Multiuser on a smartphone.
Google now has multiusers on their tablets but not on their phones in the latest build of Android 4.2. This is because way back in 2005 Nokia patented the idea on a smartphone.
Nokia patent US 2005/0107114 A1, called "multi-user mobile telephone,"
A mobile telephone is designed to be used by several different end-users at different times. A first end-user can alter the mobile telephone so that it operates in a manner specific to that first end-user and a subsequent end-user can alter the mobile telephone so that it operates in a manner specific to that subsequent end-user; wherein each end-user has only to respond to prompts displayed on a screen in order to alter the mobile telephone so that it operates in a manner specific to that end-user.
Nokia Beats Google to the Punch by Seven Years with a Patent
Does this mean it's never coming to an Android phone near you? Nope it just means that they have to settle out a deal with Nokia before they can make that happen.
