Apple iPhone 4 to arrive in India by May 27, with Airtel and Aircel

After various announcements, the last of which was more than a month and a half ago, operatorsAirtel and Aircel are finally making good on their claims of bringing the iPhone 4 to India. The duo will be launching it by May 27, or Friday, almost a year after it was launched in the United States, last June. So far, only Aircel has revealed pricing, and as expected, it has a slight premium attached.
The 16GB Apple iPhone 4 will retail for Rs. 34,500, and, the 32GB version will retail for Rs. 40,900. A requisite bumper, to avoid the ‘death grip’, will be charged for separately. This news fortunately is not too confusing for potential customers, as at that price, there are plenty of other phones with better specs, including the just-launched Samsung Galaxy S II, available for around Rs. 33,000.
Customers opting for a new connection will get a micro SIM for the device, and we expect some provision from the operators to help cut SIM cards for existing customers. We were hoping the iPhone 4 would launch with some sort of contract, enabling customers to buy it at a lower price. Aircel has come up with some plans, but we aren’t too sure they will entice customers.
Aircel postpaid customers will be able to get the phone for “free” in the Premium Money Back plan, by paying up front, and then availing voice and data plans that are equal to the phone’s value, valid for 24 months. The Advantage Money Back plan is the same thing, at half the phone’s value and for one year validity. Let us hope Airtel comes up with better plans.

Samsung Galaxy S II launches in India, priced at Rs. 32,890

It has finally happened, and no later than expected – the Samsung Galaxy S II (16GB) is officially on its way to India. It is destined for shelves with a June 10 retail release date and Rs. 32,890 price tag, and can be pre-ordered now. The Galaxy S II can however be procured a week earlier, if you go the Vodafone way…having scored an exclusive launch deal, Vodafone will be offering the Samsung Galaxy S II online at the same Rs. 32,890 price tag, from June 3.

What’s pleasantly surprising is the almost modest price of the Galaxy S II, a phone that can rest easy with the expectations of being Samsung’s flagship handheld. Endowed with specs more than sufficient to take on any competitor in the market (definitely, the more expensive Indian iPhone 4), we’re glad a top-end premium was not stuck onto this product. Elsewhere, a high price was one of the few cons in a long list of positive reviews of the product.
Salient features of this Android 2.3 Gingerbread include a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus 480x800 display, a dual-core 1.2GHz Exynos processor with a Mali 400 GPU, 8MP camera 1080p HD video recording, and 16GB of inbuilt storage for the base model.

iPhone 4 Indian Launch On 27th May At An Unbelievably Low Price ?

As cellular providers – Aircel & Airtel already confirmed the launch of iPhone in India very soon, we are still predicting about the launch date which could match with these words. Some of the solid sources have already inquired us that the iPhone 4 will land in India at an unbelievably low price. Does that mean sub 30k ? We already know that iPhone 3G S and 3G hit the Indian market with a price tag of above 30k and people really astonished when it crossed their expectations due to low prices in US. However, the doubts were cleared after the concept of contract from AT&T came into existence.

We are also hearing that iPhone 4 in India will arrive as factory unlocked, that is, you can use the smartphone with any micro-sim card from any carrier. Our sources claims that the launch will happen on 25 or 27th May but none seems to be confirmed. History to be told, Apple also prefer Friday for the launch of their products. So we are more focused on 27th May as the launch date in India for the iPhone 4. If you are planning to buy it from countries other than India, we suggest you to wait until the end of this month. Though, there are no words about the white iPhone 4 yet. A wait for few weeks can save a lot of your bucks.
MY fingers are crossed. I will let you know once the pertaining rumors will be confirmed. Are you planning to buy one ?

Tokyoflash Cobra LED Concept Watch

The guys over at Tokyoflash are at it again with their cool watch concepts,  the latest one if the Cobra LED watch, this design was actually submitted by one of their readers.
As you can see from the photos the watch numbers are engraved on the outside of the watch, with minutes and numbers separate by different ‘decks’.
Tokyoflash Cobra LED Concept Watch
This reptilian concept has sharp lines on the case and strap creating the appearance of scales. We like this concept as it’s really different from anything else submitted so far – quite an original theme.

Thermochromic Urinal Makes Peeing Fun

Alright, cat’s out of the bag. The truth is we’ve always enjoyed drawing stuff with pee. A gross use of body fluid, yes, but creativity has no bounds. Such a mindset likely produced the Thermochromic Urinal pictured below. There’s scant detail about who made it or where it’s used. Judging by the photographic evidence, however, it does take a fresh approach to the concept of a urinal.
Thermo Urinal

As its name suggests, the Thermochromic Urinal is a heat sensitive wall that registers the temperature of the urine on its surface. It’s nutty, but also looks like fun. (And a work of art.)

Since the pee graphic is done in bright orange, the Thermochromic Urinal presents a rare opportunity for pee artists to scrawl their names with whizz. Amazing.

MOCK SYMBIAN HOME SCREENS CAN BE THE PR 3.0 UPDATED INTERFACE

Actually, Nokia Germany has a few mock Symbian homescreens floating around on its website. It can be seen from the products as like Nokia N8, Nokia E7, and Nokia C7.
After there is Symbian PR 2.0, it is supposedly coming resizable widgets now. Anna update should arrive pretty soon for all Symbian^3 phones. And so far, the ones here look different than what we’ve seen.
In fact, the free form widgets UI could either be a botched Photoshop attempt, or a harbinger of what’s to come in the next big Symbian update. It will aim to deal with the unwieldy interface once and for all.
The clock’s ticking on the simulation screens for now. And probably, it is a precursor to fall-bound Symbian PR 3.0, or Belle.

Nokia does away with Ovi services brand, replaces it with Nokia services

In another major move since Elop joined, Nokia has announced it will rebranding its growing brand of Ovi services to Nokia services, i.e., Nokia Store, Nokia Maps, etc.,. While no direct reference was made to the Nokia-Microsoft deal, it is no doubt linked to plans of integratingWindows Phone Marketplace and the Ovi Store.
The Ovi Store has been doing reasonably well, in the recent past, hitting about 5 million app downloads a day. In a blog postentitled “The evolution of Nokia and Ovi,” the announcement had Nokia’s EVP and CMO, Jerri DeVard, say:
“We have made the decision to change our service branding from Ovi to Nokia. By centralizing our services identity under one brand, not two, we will reinforce the powerful master brand of Nokia and unify our brand architecture – while continuing to deliver compelling opportunities and experiences for partners and consumers alike.”
The rebranding will rollout starting with fresh devices shipped in July and August, and the full list of Ovi services will become Nokia Services by 2012. Current Nokia owners will begin receiving software updates to the effect in the near future.

The Touchpad Keyboard Could Revolutionize Laptops and Become a Standard

If you’re like me, it’s pretty hard to find a keyboard that satisfies your needs. Everyone likes the keyboard’s buttons to have a specific distance between them, needs some specific buttons while other disturb him. Fortunately this touchpad keyboard concept is able to fulfill everyone’s needs by allowing you to customize the buttons as you like. And everything is just fine as long as you don’t have anything against using a touchpad keyboard instead of a physical one.
Fujitsu Keyless Lifebook Contept 5
The Fujitsu Keyless Lifebook concept allows you to customize everything on the touchpad. You can choose your preferred layout, you can include or exclude specific keys and even choose a color for each key. And you can even place the trackpad wherever you want. I am not a big fan of this idea, because I still  find it pretty hard to use a virtual keyboard instead of a physical one, but this one might make me change my mind.
Another great featured of the Fujitsu Keyless Lifebook touchpad is that it allows you to save keyboard profiles which you can change depending on what you have to do. You can set a profile for gaming, one for working with number where you can include a numpad and an ergonomic one for typing faster and easier. You can even set profiles for different languages, so if you are bilingual, you can easily choose to another language without having to remember where all the other symbols must be. It’s exactly like having multiple physical keyboards.
And if you still aren’t convinced this keyboard can prove to be very useful, think about the plenty of ways you can use it. It can be used as a graphic design tablet, you can easily switch from left to right-handed and it could also feature swype.
Unfortunately you won’t find this in stores yet, but it’s also not a science fiction concept and all the technologies used already exist, so it’s possible to become available in the near future. And if Fujitsu doesn’t decide to take this step, I am confident another company will use this idea and start working on it.
And a fact that Fujitsu didn’t specify, but I believe it’s true, is that you can use the Fujitsu Keyless Lifebook as a twin-display tablet, which makes it very attractive.
The Fujitsu Keyless Lifebook concept has been submitted to Fujitsu’s 2011 Design Awards, so currently it’s just a rendering.

Download Android Music 3.0 Cloud-Based Music Player Free

Somehow Google and Amazon are stuck in an Android war even though the OS is Google’s property. If Amazon is launching an Android cloud-based music player, then Google is also working on a similar application called Android Music 3.0.
The application is available for download via a dev version of Android Market, but TechFrom10 quickly decided to put the app up for download and thousands of users quickly decided to get it and the site went now.
Now everything is back to normal and you can download Android Music 3.0 free here.
Don’t be too surprised if this cloud music player resembles the design of the conventional Android music player, though the user interface has been enhanced and it’s easier to use. In the menu Android users now have access to an online streaming service and lots of streaming settings, but we’ll need some more information from Google before getting the most of these options.
The TechFrom10 squad made other interesting discoveries in the Android Market developer version including a clock app called Google Desk Clock 10, another app called Google Gallery 3D New 10.2, and a new camera app called Google Camera v12. Among carrier apps they’ve found T-Mobile Game and Verizon Billing.
All of the above apps didn’t start when they tried to launch it so I guess the apps are restricted to some areas around the globe, however, what’s up with the so-called Sony test apps? These might be some game apps specially developed for the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play aka the PlayStation Phone.
If you have a spare Android smartphone at your disposal, then go ahead download it at the link above and let me know what do you think about it.
